Howards Journey as told by Mand

Created by Sarah 3 years ago

Howard was diagnosed on the 14th July 2020. Originally with Lung Cancer. Within 10 days it was discovered that Howard had in fact got Metastatic Adenocarcinoma of the Bowel which originated from the Duodenum. The only symptom that Howard had was the lump on his shoulder which constantly gave him a nagging pain. This lump turned out to be the lymphoid which acted as a motorway to project the aggressive cancer.

Howard received a routine notification from the NHS for a bowel cancer screening like all men of an age do. Howard acted upon this immediately with no cancer detected. Howard had no obvious symptoms of any bowel  cancers i.e. bleeding, irregular bowel movements etc, to alert a need for further investigations.

The question to be asked was why Howard's condition was not picked up with the routine bowel screening. The answer that was told is that the camera could not reach the Duodenum. So somehow could this regular bowel screening incorporate a more in depth view of the bowel and digestive organs.

Howard passed away on the 28th October 2020 at 5:45am surrounded by all his girls.

The big questions is!! This aggressive cancer is silent, what further research is needed to extend its voice.
